A couple weeks ago, if you happen to be connected with me on various social media platforms, you might have noticed that I’ve accepted a new role at Therapy Vineyards as Director of Winemaking and Sales.
Part of my position will involve working with the winemaking team to create, execute and maintain a wine program that builds on expertise, broadens our strengths and respects the accomplishments of my predecessor.
The other part will involve taking our wines into our sales channels and forging new relationships, building on old ones and showing off a stable of wines that have never been better.
This is a return engagement for me. I worked with the Therapy team as production winemaker during a two plus year stint and helped set up the initial sparkling program that is beginning to demonstrate amazing results. I’m looking forward to rejoining the team and the projects ahead.
There will certainly be some challenges. The BC industry as a whole has some conditions that will call for dexterity and innovation as we head into the middle of this decade. Personally, I’ll be on a steep learning curve on the sales side. If you’ve got the skill set, don’t be surprised if I call or email to pick your brain or share an idea while I get my feet under me over the next few months.
Even though I officially don’t start until September 1, the grapes don’t wait. Therapy began harvesting for the methode traditional program by bringing in some Chardonnay from a particularly warm site.
