Will you fill your summer glass?
The last half of summer is upon us. Time to plan the balance. It should include the 2022 Code Syrah rosé.
I’m not sure how things work where you are, but up and over here in the far west and slightly upper part of the NA continent, summer’s half time show is about to take the field.
For those that suffer from FOMO* a mild bit of panic may ensue, but for the rest of us, it’s time to calmly take stock of what we’ve done and what more we must do.
Have you been to the beach enough?
Have you camped? Do you care?
Have you walked in the evening warmth with the sheerest of garments draped on your frame? Have you crested the ridge at dawn, a thousand meters above your trailhead?
Have you done the backyard grilling? Have you smoked all the bits of beast?
Have you road tripped, off the raft back flipped, made fresh salsa for the tortilla chip dip, and rode that single track and let her rip?
Have you drank the good, clean and crisp rosé?
For many, summer is the season of rosé. They drink it with their patio snacks and casual foods while entertaining the dears who travel to meet on the deck. For others like me, rosé is all year. The perfect solution to our made up problems. Will that be white or red with the seared chop accompanied by the orecchiette with a rustic, raw ripe tomato and roasted garlic smush? Hmm. Rosé.
Last month, I wrote about the Code winery and specifically the
Chardonnay. With summer’s half way point imminent, I wanted to make sure no one missed this wine mentioned below. It’s a winner.
The 2022 Syrah Rosé has a pleasant, diminutive nose of watermelon, citrus and floral notes. It is restrained. This is an attractive attribute. Not every wine has to charge in like a locomotive. The palate is white strawberry, melon, lemon curd and a curling green tendril of lime that extends into the finish. As it is Syrah, there’s a backdraft of pepper. But the kind of pepper that shows up late and behaves itself in the background.
My suggestion would be: make your way to their website and order what you think you need times another .33, or even better, visit their winery and taste where the magic happens. Call first, book an appointment, let them know you’re on the way.

Folks, it’s another free post! I’m just that generous kind of guy. But in return can you spread it or share another post around? I love that kind of organic growth. Thanks in advance.
